Underground and overhead pipelines are a network of private underground and/or overhead fire protection mains.
Water is contained within the network, which is subject to pressure conditions. The main function of the supply network is to supply a sufficient amount of pressurized water to the different established fire protection systems (systems). sprinklers, deluge systems, hydrants, etc.). All this according to the occupation or risk.
The areas that commonly use underground networks are those that meet the space or conditions for the pipes to be distributed, such as in commercial, hospital, industrial facilities and areas where water-based protection is required and permitted.

Underground pipes
As its name indicates, it is the pipe which can be used in different materials such as Iron or PVC and which passes underground and distributes or feeds pressurized water to the Fire Fighting System.
This type of pipe can be of different lengths, therefore, it is functional for small routes, for example joining buildings or even becoming a network that feeds from a building to an entire industrial park.
The underground pipe can be made up of pipes of different diameters and different types of materials, for example, PVC, Steel and Iron pipes.
These pipes have union accessories, sectional valves, hydrants for the exclusive use of firefighters or according to the need of the fire fighting system to be used.
General Installation Tip
It is mostly used underground due to the benefit of being hidden and not creating obstructions in busy areas such as sidewalks or vehicular roads; Also, since it is not supported by a structural element, no conflict is created due to the size of the pipe and since it is not exposed, it is more resistant to climate changes.
Overhead Pipes
It is the type of pipe that feeds or distributes pressurized water to the Fire Fighting System, but in space, either indoors or outdoors, in a free air manner and/or above work areas.
This pipe, being aerial, can be outside or inside the building according to the client's needs, but as long as it can be supported by some structural element. It is used to feed water-based systems, wall hydrants and hoses.
The air pipe can be made up of pipes of different diameters and are commonly made of steel, such as Schedule 10, Schedule 40 and Stainless steels. These pipes have threaded and slotted joint accessories and butterfly valves. These systems, when hung or supported, must be evaluated by a structural specialist according to the need of the system.
General Installation Tip
It is mostly used when existing buildings are already in operation or have little space outside the facilities, since it can be installed within the same building, no extra space is required outside, only availability of airspace or a free path.
