LATAM PCI – 1st General Assembly

Last June 18, “Latam PCI” successfully held its in-person assembly, within the framework of the “Conference & Expo Fire” held in Orlando, Florida.

This assembly, in which fire safety leaders in Latin America participated, had both modalities, in-person and virtual.

Participated: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Uruguay.

In this Latin American event, several points were presented, among which the following stand out:

1. The progress of the 04 strategic axes that are being worked on in specialized groups:

1. 1. Visibility: The achievement before the United Nations was highlighted, for having obtained authorization so that, starting this October 08, 2024, the: “World Fire Prevention Day” will be celebrated each year, for which work is being done. several lines of action for effective dissemination at an international level. It should be noted that meetings have been held with Europe, the Middle East and even South Africa to support this important dissemination.

1. 2. Education: The progress of the Virtual Library project was presented, in which everyone will have access to educational material “of all kinds”, mostly free, provided by the expert associates of Latam PCI, from Canada to Argentina, which It will be in Spanish and Portuguese.

1. 3. Certification: The progress of this important project that seeks “Develop a competency certification for Fire Protection specialists in the region.” which is quite a challenge to include: Suppression, alarm and Detection, as well as the well-known Passive Protection.

1. 4. Regulatory: A long-awaited study was presented regarding the regulatory status we have in Latin America, this important study in which all members of Latam PCI participated shows us, among other important data:
      
      1. Countries where NFPA standards are mandatory for new buildings in at least one city.
      2. Evaluation of the percentage of the population impacted by these NFPA standards.
      3. What other type of regulation is applicable and in which sector.

2. Presentation of the new structure of the Executive Committee
3. Nominative Adjustment of: Advisory Board to Advisory Council, for our very important advisors.
4. Quota scheme for members of our organization.

Independently of our session, within this important event, we managed to strengthen those international alliances that are very important for the continuity of our regional projects, which are advancing quickly and with great success.
